We anticipate receiving many more applications than we can fund. We appreciate the time and energy it takes to write grant applications, so with this in mind, please read these guidance notes carefully before you apply.

Governance

Key policies and organisational priorities. We are interested in hearing about your approach to equity, diversity and inclusion both within your organisation and with the communities you work with. We will also ask about your approach to safeguarding so we can ensure that the right steps are taken to protect vulnerable people and communities
Recent financial statements or other relevant financial reports

Project specific questions

How the funding would contribute to delivering the outcome(s) of the Coronation Food Project grants programme. We’re interested in understanding the need your work will address, what outcomes you anticipate achieving, and the ways in which your organisation is best placed to deliver this
What activities our funding would support/contribute to and the amount of funding you are requesting from us and over what period. If you are requesting multi-year funding we encourage you to account for inflation and increase your budget accordingly. And where a project is depending on co-funding how you will go about securing that funding (KCCF funding may be subject to evidence of the co-funding being in place.

There are no word count limits in this application form. We would encourage you to be concise in your answers.

Application and assessment

After you submit the full application form, you will receive a confirmation email and a copy of your application.

All applications are screened using a standardised process to confirm eligibility.
We will request more information, if required.
Applications are shortlisted by KCCF before being considered by a grants committee, where a funding recommendation is made.
Recommendations are passed to our trustees, and a final funding decision is made.

Once a decision has been reached, we’ll email you to confirm the outcome. If your application is successful, this will explain more about what happens next. If you are unsuccessful, feedback is available upon request.

Where we will fund

We will consider applications from organisations working across all four nations of the United Kingdom. We will not support activities outside of the United Kingdom.

We want to direct funding to where it is needed most. Applications from areas of deprivation, or those that can show how the project will benefit those most in need within an area of wealth disparity will be prioritised.

There will be space in the application form for you to demonstrate the level of need in the area your organisation serves.

What we will support

Applications to the grants programme must demonstrate how the funding would be used to address one or more of the following:

Reduce levels of food waste
Improve mechanisms to deliver surplus food to re-distribution charities
Address underlying causes of food poverty
Improve access to nutritious food for the most at need groups

As well as seeking out innovative ideas which could change the way we think and do things in the future, we will also support charities in need of funds just to keep doing more of what they already do well.

We will consider applications for both core funding as well as specific projects, including capital expenditure. If you are applying for core funding, the amount requested should not exceed 20% of your total income. We will not consider applications for activities which have already been completed.

For applicants working directly with people in need we are interested in hearing how you are listening to the voices of service users in your work and overcoming barriers people may face in accessing services.

We will award make awards of between £300 and £30,000 to each organisation through this grants round. This could be a multiyear award over a three year period, or a one-off grant for one year. The maximum amount you can apply for in total is £30,000.
