38 hectares of traditional orchard restored since 2021.
The aim of the project is to restore and preserve the meadows (hayfields), traditional orchards and old varieties of apples and pears in Transylvania, Romania.
In 2022-2023, achievements included:
- Cleaning of 20 ha of meadows from the invasion of shrubs and trees shoots.
- Restoration of 3 ha of the village’s old orchard
- Grafting of rootstocks from the nursery with the identified varieties
- Inventory and determination of old apple and pear varieties, with 80 identified to date.
- A kick-off festival in May 2022
