Imagine If Trust
- Social Inclusion
Helped fourteen community members through a volunteer befriending scheme.
The Linking Lives project was supported by The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund COVID-19 Recovery Fund.
The project has engaged fourteen members of the community, either through regular volunteer befriender visits to the service user within their own home, or through group activities out of of the house. Group activities have included jewellery making, cake decorating and quizzes. Many of those who are supported by the Imagine If Trust found it difficult to access support during the pandemic, so the weekly befriending sessions have been a lifeline.
For example, one service user had a serious operation last year that has left her without the confidence to leave her home. She was very isolated, as her two daughters live in Birmingham and France. Thanks to the Imagine If Trust, a volunteer visits the service user every week, building a real friendship in the process. The volunteer has said that the service user is always waiting near the door.
