Our grantmaking plans for 2026-27

  • Countryside
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Heritage and Conservation
  • Social Inclusion

We are pleased to share our grant-making plans for the year ahead, as we continue our mission to transform lives and build sustainable communities.

Since 1979, KCCF has invested more than £100 million in charitable causes across the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and internationally. Each year, we award around £5 million in grants through our large and small grant programmes, supporting more than 150 organisations across our six funding themes.

We will continue to award both small and large grants in 2026/27. Full details of each programme can be found on the relevant pages of our website.

Small grants

Our small grants programme will reopen this year, continuing to support smaller non-profit organisations. Dates for each funding round will be published on our website and social media channels at least two weeks before the application window opens.

Over the last decade, more than 900 organisations have received support through our small grants programme. Demand has risen sharply in recent years: we now receive around 1,500 applications annually, of which we fund approximately 100.

Following a review in spring 2025, we updated our eligibility criteria to ensure the programme remains effective and accessible in the context of this high demand.

Demand remains strongest across our Health & Wellbeing and Social Inclusion themes.

Small grants timetable for 2026/27

Our small grants programme will open as follows:

  • April – Environment and Countryside
  • August – Education and Heritage & Conservation
  • February – Health & Wellbeing and Social Inclusion

We continue to explore how our small grants can best support organisations, strengthen capacity, and unlock additional funding – particularly during a time when many charitable organisations are facing increased pressure and rising demand for services. We remain committed to supporting the sector as effectively as possible. Any further changes to the programme will be posted on our website. Please check our website and social media regularly for updates.

Large grants

Our large grants programme will continue to support a smaller number of organisations. Applications are by invitation only, and we are unable to accept unsolicited proposals. If we are interested in partnering with your organisation, we will contact you directly.

Large grants support a wide range of charities, including:

  • The King’s Trust, helping young people in the UK and internationally to develop essential life skills, get ready for work and build a brighter future for themselves.
  • The King’s Foundation, creating sustainable communities through placemaking projects and offering practical education programmes that change lives

Since 2023, we have also committed more than £4.4 million throughout strategic partnership grants programme, supporting charities that are bringing about significant benefits to environmental sustainability and social inclusion in the UK and around the world. You can learn more about these partnerships on our website.
